Kingwood Park Panthers Give Up Victory in Homecoming Game Kingwood Park High School Panthers lose 24 – 21 to Barber’s Hill at Friday night’s Homecoming Game at Turner Stadium. No one can dispute that the KPHS Panthers are playing much better this season than last year. Although this was a heartbreaking loss for Kingwood Park, most would agree they are playing a higher caliber of football. Coach Holley (Panthers Head coach) shared his thoughts with Kingwood.com. "It was a hard fought contest against a well coached and disciplined Barbers Hill team. I am really proud of the effort the boys gave all night. We are really getting close to being a pretty good football team. We have a big game at Galena Park next week." Weekly Coach's Corner Featuring Coach McDougald Kingwood.com asked Kingwood High School Varsity Football Coach McDougald for some comments on questions from our readers. The dialogue follows: How long have you been coaching High School Football at KHW? Coach McDougald - I have been at KHS for 6 years. Prior to KHS is was the AD/Head Football Coach at Huffman ISD for 18 months and spent 20 years at Humble HS. Coach McDougald - The team is improving daily. Unfortunately our first scrimmage vs Galveston Ball was very short due to lightning and rain. We are looking forward to our scrimmage this Friday vs Cy Ridge. Cy Ridge is ranked 7th in the state and will be a great test for us. Which side currently looks stronger the offensive or defensive line? And what are their strengths? Coach McDougald - Both our offensive and defensive lines have looked good during two a days. We are looking forward to seeing them play against Cy Ridge. Your thoughts on the opening game at Reliant Stadium? What do you expect from the College Park team? Coach McDougald - College Park had an excellent Varsity team last year and their Junior Varsity was undefeated. They will have an outstanding football team this year also. We feel like we match up very well with the Cavaliers and look forward to an outstanding contest. We are also hosting the Meet the Mustangs Night at KHS Saturday evening at 6 PM. We would like to invite and encourage our community to come join us. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meet the Mustangs Event Saturday, August 30, 2008 KHS football fields 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
