The San Jacinto West Fork at US 59 has reached a new record breaking high water level as of today, Tuesday, August 29th, 2017. US 59 is completely impassable at the San Jacinto river.At 68.46 feet (as of 10:30am on Tuesday morning), this is just enough to take its place in first as the highest water level ever recorded for the San Jacinto. Yes, even more than the 1994 flood. In fact, this new record surpasses all others including measures taken all the way back to the first high river water mark measured in this location back in 1929.Below is a photo taken from US 59 looking in the direction of FM 1960 and the mall, just north of the San Jacinto river:Loading Image...h/t @BoobearLoading Image...Loading Image...Source: National Weather Service, Advanced Hydrological Prediction Servicehttp://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph.php?wfo=HGX&gage=HMMT2 4951

I'm actually in El Dorado Hills, CA but my darling niece and her family live in Kingwood.  So, of course, I am very worried about them during this crazy flooding time.  Carol 4951

I just drove from Kingwood to / from IAH on the US-59 / I-69  MAIN  lanes.  All MAIN lanes going both directions (going north or south) are now OPEN.  The southbound feeder road (i.e. to Costco) was closed this morning and feeder traffic was forced to enter the MAIN lanes (Friday, September 1, 6AM). Big thanks to the City Workers for fixing the concrete barriers last night  !!! 4951

@FrontRoow:

Those were TxDOT workers, but the City, County, State and Feds are all working nicely together and usually around the clock to keep recovery efforts moving. 4951
