Welcome back to Suddenlink, woo hoo!
Finally got moved in (renting an apt is more paperwork/bs than buying a house these days), got the friendly visit from SL. They are the only cable co I know of that will not hook their box into your stereo and hook up DVD etc and make sure everything is working before leaving. And I sure hope he was mistaken when he told me their remotes will not operate anything else, nor will another remote operate their cable box. That's gotta be hogwash. So now there is cable signal running into my TV, and I can see it, just can't hear it, as my TV is set for external speakers and I don't have either the TV remote (to change to internal) or have hooked my stereo/speakers up yet. Would be up and running if I could program their remote to operate my stereo.
You'd think they would want everything working (he spent about 5 minutes here), now I gotta call them.
Not looking fwd to dealing with them, Comcast's been nice, and even Direct, Cable/Internet was not a big part of my life, I turned it on and it worked, wasn't taking off work to meet them, or on the phone trying to figure something out, or just out of service. I forgot about having to deal with all that. 4951

@cador : it is. should be a small pamphlet that came in the remote box that gives you the codes. If not the internet will have them. 4951

Did they give you the same Altice One cable box they gave me? It runs the cable and internet through one box. It was fairly new when I got it a year ago. Despite all the complaints about Suddenlink, I had a few problems at first, but I've gone nearly a year with perfect service (knock on wood). 4951

@ET :
I don't know ET, I just hung up from their tech dept, who put me on hold to confirm, but they are telling me their remote will not operate anything BUT their box. And I believe them as there is no input button on it. He was kinda of a smart***** as I had to explain that I had a Comcast remote before that operated everything and he kept calling it a Universal remote and that it's not supposed to operate their box.
Guess I'm going to have a cpl remotes, in 2019 lol.
And the Cable tech left me nada. I'm going to play with the remote some more, but I'm thinking they may be correct. 4951

Nope, this lil jewel here. You go into remote settings, and there is only one option "pair remote to altice 1 4951

That is weird they wouldn't give you a remote that would work for everything. Nobody wants 100 remotes lying around. 4951

@cador : damn, I better take care of the ones I have. You could try taking it all back and see if they will give you a Pace unit. 4951

I googled it, can't find anything that mentions programming the Altice with a stereo, DVD, etc anything except TV. Supposed to be the new technology this Altice, but its 2019 and you have to have 2 remotes?
I wish it was that I was missing something (always could be the case as I'm not real tech savvy), but the remote won't let me program anything, doesn't have an input button, and the service tech that installed it/and that I called is telling me it won't, AND I got him to confirm as I didn't believe him, he acted like it wasn't a big deal, but most everybody has stereo (or something other than TV) producing the sound here in 2019, guess they either have 2 remotes (with this SL Altice POS) or found a Universal.
I'm going to stop by BB and talk to a geek on my was over to my old house this evening and see what he knows/if he has a Universal remote for me. 4951

And yes, I do have my TV's remote packed somewhere here in a box, which would change it to internal spkrs, but I want my externals, and don't feel like looking for it right now. 4951
