@luannski :
My walks were so damage too!! In one room i did a sand texture paint and in my kitchen i brushed on plain texture paint and the scooped out more texture paint with a wide and narrow putty knife and made a pueblo effect and then painted color- it was pretty cool

Superfantastik : This is what that looks like…. I found a few "coats" of wallpapers, the last one was attached directly to the unprimed drywall creating even more problems…. My inclination is that the builder started this mess …

@LizBeth91 : I've been thru that nightmare a few times. Took weeks to get it all down. Mixed some fabric softener with water and sprayed that on. Also used a steamer. One tiny piece at a time....

@LizBeth91 : I have never put wallpaper over wallpaper. Didn't know that was possible not that I would have ever done that. When we moved into our house in OH in 1993 there was a wall covering in the bathroom and also the kitchen. It was a heavy paper(?) and also had strings in it. I took it off the bathroom but after doing that I painted over the kitchen. It was horrible taking the "stuff" off that small space I would never tackled a large kitchen/dining area. The paste was about 1/8 in thick and horrible to remove. I used to like to paint and wallpaper but too old now.

@RaggedyAnn :
I tried a lot of things too. There was this clear kind of glue that was hardened that didn't even respond to an industrial rented wallpaper steamer. I gouged a few times ☹️

@Nuisance : It's been about 5 years and I think I might still do the same but I'm like you, gotten a bit older and wiser.
I think what drove me nuts enough to do it is that the walls had a crinkled texture and the color was kind of a dull beige-avocado. It was a weird puky color 😁
