TX man films hammerhead shark in shallow Galveston waters
Majestic and beautiful animal but this is why I go in swimming pools.

If you're heading to Galveston for the long Memorial Day weekend, you may want to steer clear of swimming-and it's not just because of its notoriously murky, brown water. Texas angler Jason Schilling recently visited San Luis Pass Beach, the furthest beach on Galveston Island's West End, when he unexpectedly spotted a massive hammerhead shark swimming in a shallow area near the shoreline.

@buffaloglenn : Agreed. That water is way too clear. Plus, the water shown is not 'shallow.' The story popped up in my news feed and I thought I'd share regardless of the pictures attached.

@ExCTGuyInTX : They (big sharks) do occasionally come into shallow water though. I've never seen one over about 3-4 feet long in water in which I could stand up. But I suspect one that size would still spook someone in the water.

@buffaloglenn : I was thinking the same.
I think the sharks we have in Galveston that people like to call hammerheads are actually called bonnet head sharks.
There are literally tons of them, if you go fishing of the pier in the spring you'll catch baby ones all day long.

They look more like this.
