That's cause when the migrant shrimp pickers pick the shrimp in them shrimp fields, they have to go on ice so they don't sweat. Sweaty shrimp are hard to sell.

@ProblemAgain : you're a nut!! My uncle worked a shrimp boat out of Texas city for a long time. Smelly, yucky hard work. No thanks.

@CantStandTex : nope, you are thinking farm raised, like catfish ðŸ˜€ shrimps are harvested differently. SMDH some know it alls do not know everything ðŸ˜’ ðŸ™„ but good try ðŸ™ƒ

As Texan as I am and as much as I love shrimp, I just can't bring myself to buy it out of someone's trunk (or truck). Yet I'll totally buy tamales this way. Weird.

That's hard work, plowing them fields and planting the shrimp.... Worrying about freezes and will your shrimp get flash frozen and have to be harvested before they's ripe?

@CantStandTex : Nahhh my guy. There are many parts of Houston that never recovered. There are homes in poorer parts of the inner city that still look like the top pic. Not everyone is so fortunate.
