@Quixote : If that passes here there will be tons of homes for sale here as everyone tries to get out of Dodge.

@Airborne319 : Texas was supposed to be the place to go when you got of of Dodge somewhere else. Once you have to flee Texas, where do you go to escape the madness?

Donnawisdom : I thought it was illegal to not take American currency.

@luannski :

Covid changed that. Even airlines are contactless payment.

Ruger5 : This has all happened before. Remember the term "White Flight" from the 70s and early 80s? It refers to a time when the inner cities became so crime infested that whites moved out of the cities to the burbs. It then took hard work from the late 80s through the mid 90s to clean it up. Whites started moving back into the urban areas. This time around the crime is not contained to the inner city and is spread all over the metro areas. This coupled with the miserable summers, high property taxes, high water and electric bills, and a changing demographic in KW is going to force us to relocate somewhere more mellow for our retirement years.

@Airborne319 :

That was only part of it. 70s started busing kid to different schools. They wanted white kids to go to black schools and black kids to go to white schools. Families left the areas for that reason.

@Ticagro : Unfortunately for KW, we are controlled by Houston and I don't see that as a sustainable situation going forward. Also, the weather in Texas is just awful. Summers here were tough 25 years ago. Now they are unbearable. Years ago I thought I would just move up to Livingston, but that's still too close to Houston for me.

@luannski : A while back hubby and I ate at Russo's New York Style Pizza (I believe it was) at Valley Ranch and they did not accept cash. First I've seen of this though.

luannski : Why would you think that? A company has the authority to decide business policies. There are many companies who don't want cash bc of this kind of crap. And the ones who don't take cash are hiking prices to pay for the merchant CC fee attached to every single CC transaction. The consumer loses again.

@MissAmericanPie : Because poor people don't qualify for credit cards?
My sister isn't poor but doesn't own a CC, doesn't believe in them.
My son in Montana doesn't even have a Bank account, he lives " off the grid".

@luannski : Wow how does he buy anything? Cash and lives in a camper?

I see your point but it seems like it's pretty easy to get a credit card, maybe not the good ones tho….these institutions love giving them out to just about anyone. Not all card transactions are credit, some are purely a debit card.

I'm surprised that that store has enough cash on hand to make it worth the effort. They're not selling candy bars and fountain drinks.
