My Quest to Mount Mitchell ðŸ”

A very long time ago, I climbed Mount St. Helens as a boy. Spirit Lake touched my heart literally & thought it was the hardest trek of my life! ðŸ’™ I climbed Mount Mitchell today and became a man â¤ï¸ This is the tallest mountain on the East Coast & dwarfed by Fire Mountain out west ðŸ”¥âœ¨ but this trek was 11 times harder!! The forest was so dark in the middle of the day. I scaled boulders bigger than me! I saw a gray fox ðŸ¦Š awe!! When I finally made it up 2 miles of rugged terrain, I was out of breathâ€¦ I got to do what I used to do all the time, after so many long years of neglecting my spirit, a force was awakened today I haven't felt in so long, that I have the power to do anything if I put my heart in it ðŸ’š The weather was so emo, foggy, isolating, strange clouds blowing in my eyes likely from Indiana. I can smell corn ðŸŒ½ haha! I was all alone at the summit & felt eerie, like the ancestors maybe have done ritualistic sacrifices or something. My muscles feel like ground up meat & they need to to stretchâ€¦ It's getting dark now & very twilight like; the vampires will be out soon I senseâ€¦ Goodnight my fellow night creatures. There are more than bears and demogorgons out in the wildâ€¦ I never felt this alive in the summertime. It's 52Â° wow! I kinda wanna watch a Lord of the Rings marathon now I went there & back again to the Lonely Mountain ðŸ–¤ â˜€ï¸and traveled through Mirkwood ðŸ§¡âœ¨ I didn't get webbied up tight by giant spiders phew! ðŸ•·ðŸ•¸ðŸ•·ðŸ•¸ but I found a troll cave OmG! ðŸ‘¹â˜ ï¸ðŸŽƒðŸ

It began here with the clouds scaling the mountains, and the temperature dropped into the 50sâ€¦ I needed a emo hoodie in June wow!

The trailhead was isolated and beautiful, but the forest within was so much like Mirkwood with all the enchantments: we're talking northern balsam spruce fir forests from Canada back in the last ice ageâ€¦

The deeper I went, the more dark & cooler it gotâ€¦ Temperatures quickly dropped close to the 40s! 4951

This forest is ancient and felt spirits everywhere from distant eras and dimensions. The balsams were struggling with climate change, as even here it's getting too warm for them. There were vines everywhere like The Upside Down, and the spookiness grew as I walked further into the woods. I wanted to turn back many times and was scared of what I saw and was the only soul out here admiring the world in its most primitive settingâ€¦ I wasn't worried about bears, or mountain lions, but the spiders were around & thought of Shelob & her wicked friends from Mirkwood, as some webs were bigger than me! Long ago, the Earth was different, and there was more oxygen where things like spiders can be as big as us!

The forest began to get taller & greener up in elevation, and that's when the magic began to come out. I was looking for elves and dwarves and even hobbits and gnomes! I believe they all exist! This quickly turned into one truly magical place, but the journey was difficult and I cried many times, because I had to scale rocks bigger than me! ðŸª¨ðŸª¨ðŸª¨ I nearly fell down many times, but God catches me often, or the angels doâ€¦ 4951

I find a lonely hoodie that's been left there for days and rescued it, because it was getting colder & colder as I climbed. It felt like December and smelled Christmas trees everywhere! âœ¨ðŸŒ²âœ¨ðŸŒ²âœ¨ðŸŒ²âœ¨ The scent was so strong & soothing. There was a clearing & could see how tall the trees got from a distance, then the Summit approached ahead of me. I didn't see people the whole way until the very endâ€¦

The trail finally cleared near the top and began seeing signs of life again as others who drove up and took the easy path smiled & waved hellos. Even though it's cold up here, I was soaking wet and had to sit down awhile before finishing what I started to catch my breath. I've raised my hand to feel the energy around me & it was mesmerizing & mind blowingâ€¦ This is the tallest mountain on the Eastern Seaboardâ€¦ 4951

I finally calm down and found the summit to myself and used a rock to help me get a picture smiling. I had to sit and stare into the distance and stretch my sore ground up muscles for the trip back down, as Bilbo says there and back againâ€¦ that's my life motto in many waysâ€¦ 4951

When I get back down, it was nearly dark and drove back up the mountain. I see this when I arriveâ€¦

North Carolina is Spooky AF!! After hiking all day, I come back to see this! ðŸ‘»ðŸ˜± Is anyone ready for Halloween? ðŸŽƒðŸ•·ðŸ•¸â„ï¸ There could be real live demogorgons in these woodsâ€¦ We have some wicked history, and this is America's oldest state; the first colony of Roanoke was founded here, and they all disappeared soon after! No one really knows where they went, but it's possible The Upside Down is real & they found it? This has Stranger Things vibes all over it, and I feel like I'm in The Upside Down in Hawkins when I see this wow! ðŸ’™â¤ï¸âœ¨âœ¨ðŸðŸ‚ This reminds me so much of Oregon & Washington, but it's far chillier here at 52Â° Does anyone want to go ghost hunting with me? ðŸ•¯ðŸŒ™ 4951

@Kaylagirl : Mount Mitchell is about a 1/2 hour from Asheville ðŸ’šðŸ’™ I can see myself living here more each day. I'm getting used to the hills & roads, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is my haven away from civilization â˜€ï¸âœ¨ 4951
