Oh no, now shots fired at elm grove park at 0200. and teenagers with guns in KIngwood. I sure hope we don't turn into Houston proper and shots fired and crime all the time. It is the main reason we live out here, we don't want to participate in all that.

@Texasdad : Where'd you hear about shots fired at Elm Grove Park?

@sweetie : I tell you I had a rough time when my kids were teenagers. I was the only parent that never went on trips and left teenagers at home. And they had to be home by midnight. My kids were horrified that they were in Jail ðŸ˜‚

@J2911 : Maybe not high amounts of crime, but when Steve and I came to look at house in KW, we had two we were going to look at. One was in the back of KW; he found out that the guy across the street had killed someone in a drunken brawl, spent a short time in prison, was released from jail, went out got another DUI in 3 month's, and still lives there. We didn't even look at that house, bought this one and love it.

Where does a 16 year old get a gun? From the parents. Hopefully the parents of the child who was shot will sue them and the law will charge them. So many times parents make excuses made for kids behavior and have the attitude that " if there is no video, it didnt happen" -- sends a message to these kids that they are entitled to make bad decisions without real consequences.

@BrendaT : That is one incident. Please share any quantitative data you have that the "back of Kingwood" has a different crime rate than other areas of Kingwood.

Kingwood is essentially Houston while a suburb, yes, it's Houston. Houston is the fourth largest city in the US and with all the good of Houston comes the bad also. It's also off of Hwy 59 which has been and will continue to be one of the busiest drug corridors.

While a very nice community compared to some inner city areas of Houston (I am a life long Houstonian not Kingwoodian) please remember it's Houston.

Crime can be anywhere. Front of Kingwood , back of Kingwood by any age person. No one is excluded anymore from violence.

J2911 : And in the middle of the night I walked the house. Did bed checks. And you better be there. I was a serious parent. One boy my daughter knew said I needed to get a life! I said I have a life, it is dedicated to my kids. One night he told me to go to bed. I said I was going to go to bed if he would just be polite enough to go home. ðŸ¤¦â€â™€ï¸

@Donnawisdom : You were more polite than I would have been. I had to go through the teen years twice and it was a disaster with the steps, then they died and then my two. My youngest was always getting into some BS with someone and the eldest was so busy and always had to go somewhere but because his brothers were killed in the car wreck he was in no rush to learn to drive. I was always having to drive him somewhere or pick him up or pick up whoever.
