I would never have a pool.

The home we bought last year has a pool. First time owning a pool. I LOVE mine and for me it is worth it and hasn't been that costly. I have a company out to clean it every week costs me about 140 a month. There is ongoing maintenance every few years and I am sure at some point we will need to resurface it. I am in my 50's, I doubt I could have afforded it back when we were young and had kids living at home..

I couldn't live here without our pool. We use it a LOT! As crazy as it sounds considering our heat here, we use the attached hot tub, jacuzzi, whatever you want to call it, as much or more than the pool itself.

@TheStig : No. We had pools in previous houses but when we moved here, our kids were in hs and would be going out of state for school. So no pool here. Too much trouble.

Our last house had a pool. Had it 34 years. Young kids. I bought new/had it installed. 8" Concrete walled with liner. Good with kids, very nice. After kids grown and gone it got to be a chore. That said we lived beachy (Padre island and Florida emerald coast) for some years and really liked that…now looking to try to find place near beach that maybe has small pool…but the maintenance and the $$ are relevant to me. Will come Down to the money first (couple hundred a month) and of course if the house has the right stuff. There's a lot to be said for using a neighborhood pool, which is what we have now. Everybody is different and if you've never had one, you'll probably like it for a long time until it wears on you a little. Be prepared to spend a pretty chunk to get it put in. If I was to put another one in, I might would go with the fiberglass one that is hauled on a truck, because capital maintenance on it I believe would be much less than gunite or a liner.

@TheStig: I think it is worth it, especially if it gets a lot of use..I love to go outside and sit by the pool late at night…it is relaxing..

@Moon007 : Well yeah I am always interested of the sex of the person who is making statements or asking questions 😂

@Moon007 : Would make no difference to me. I was on a volleyball club sport team in college and I was the only non gay female on there. Doesn't phase me my friend.

I waited till my kids were grown... I guess I did it backwards, but I do love an Adult only swim.. LOL

@TheStig : Do you mow your own yard? Willing to pony up $200/month or so? The "worth it" all depends on how much one likes being in a pool, and who is doing the work to keep the pool from turning into a pond.

I say yes but the wifey says no way in hell. That just leaves her more money to spend on Amazon.

Or you can get fancier...
