Tumu_ : Nice Axis. I just got mine back as well. Same mount too but not as big as that one. That's a stud. I also have zero wall space and I refuse to hang mounts in my garage so I did a pedestal mount. It's a Jerry rig setup I built from stuff at Lowe's off looking at pedestal mounts off the internet. Turned out pretty good and only cost me about $50 in supplies.

Oh yeah, took the oldest out back before we left the north....taught him how to hold a gun and the rules for using a gun...gave him 6 bb's and set the target up about 10 yards away Tumu_ ...not too shabby for a first time!!!

Sandyknee They shed their antlers every year

@Tumu_ : I didn't know this. So do the older ones grow their antlers faster? Why do some have huge ones and others don't?

My kids have been around firearms all their lives. Before I ever handed my son a gun he had to complete a hand written test on firearms that I put together. It took him weeks to learn. He did the research himself. He missed none on that test. He would go into the toy store and pick up a toy gun, never pointing it at anyone and check that it wasn't loaded. He has a deep respect for firearms to this day. As well as a deep resepct for human life.

@SandyKnee : They all grow the same. Every whitetail buck sheds their antlers every year around this time then they grow back bigger every year "supposed to" some young deer like the one in your pic have huge antlers because of genetics and protein source but they are still young deer and will only improve "most of the time"

Sometimes they will decline if over 6 or so years old

One of the neatest mounts I've ever seen was 8 large crappie hanging on a chain stringer. It looked awesome!

@Tumu_ : Yes that does help a lot actually. I know they need to be thinned out or it is bad for the group, but if I had to kill my food before I ate it I would be vegetarian. I just cannot do it. I know if I was brought up on a farm I would feel differently.
I could fish before I had a aquarium, but not now. ðŸ™„
