mutton : So true. My granny made bread off her wooden countertops and not one of her 15 kids died ðŸ˜Š. I couldn't imagine rolling out pie dough on anything but a clean floured granite countertop.

@Ruger5 : I have a beautiful handmade wooden chopping block. Wooden chopping blocks are hard to sanitize correctly as knives make the cut grooves.

mutton : hope youre sealing them and not using knives on them. Stainless is used in medical and commercial food prep for a reason.

@Lateralus : Is for mixing and slapping! Lol. I use cutting boards that I can wash and then put in dishwasher for sanitizing if cutting meat.

mutton : good on you for at least the not cutting part. The slapping and mixing IMO is odd, but whatever. You're much more pleasant about it than the other.

@Lateralus : I do it as is a larger area to work on.

@Lateralus : Maybe you should do a little research before slamming another's choice of food prepping. It's quite alright prepping raw meat or veggies or anything on granite. Might not be good for granite if done a lot, but not harmful to humans. I can not imagine rolling out pie dough on anything but a well floured granite countertop.

@Ruger5 : Hey woman. I know you and I know how meticulous you are about cleanliness: Never once did I ever doubt that you wouldn't completely disinfectant that surface before and after putting those burger patties out for prep. You are one of the cleanest people I know.

@Ruger5 : I would have no concern about eating anything at your house. I have granite at the beach and love it. I didn't think about doing pie crust on it but I will now. I don't worry about anything making us sick accept maybe take out or restaurants.
My dogs kiss me so there's that and I don't worry. They have kisses to die for!
