Who here jumped on the sourdough bread train during the pandemic? And if you created a starter, are you still baking sourdough bread? Did you name your starter? Sourdough bread kept me sane and I'm still faithfully baking 2 sometimes 3 loaves a week. My starter's name is Virgil.

@Chrisso : Not me. I have never baked bread, ever. That looks super yummy. I bet it would be really great dipped in a nice olive oil with minced garlic and shredded parmesan. Is it very difficult to make?

@Chrisso : I did it back in 90s. Did by hand, no bread machine! Had to leave starter behind when move back to country, lol.

@catperson1 : I love term "feeding it", lol. I gave tons of bread and starter away when I was making the bread. The smell of just baked was wonderful!

I got into making Irish Soda bread A LOT. I love it with a few currants mixed in. I love eating it with some salted Kerrygold butter.

@NeverPayRetail : I don't use a bread machine, no. I am making a loaf right now that will be ready to bake tomorrow.

@Chrisso : I used to. We had a starter shared with family and kept it going about 10 years. I got tired of making bread and rolls and cakes so I quit. Interesting, my husband saw an article about Patrick Duffy (the actor) is hyping a a family starter passed down from the 1800s. My husband said I should order one but I am not sure I have the energy to get back into bread baking. I know you can just feed the starter if you don't want to bake during the week, but even so, it does require some work.

@Chrisso : I think I'm going to give it a try in a week or so. I've baked off and on but never tried bread until last week.

@amanda79 : Not difficult, no, but it does take time. The loaf I'm making now won't be ready to bake till tomorrow. And a resounding heartfelt YES to the olive oil, parm bread dipping. So👏🏻Good👏🏻
