Thank u both for your input.. Us coon-**** call them crawfish holes but I think it's cute when u called it crayfish! But no, not crawfish holes.. the holes lack the mud towers above the ground.
I know Kingwood is Squirrel Central, are all Kingwood squirrels considered ground squirrels? In all my years in Kingwood in the yards of the four houses we've had over the years, I've never seen holes like this, so many, so concentrated together.. And they seem to have appeared in just a matter of days..
I am totally unfamiliar w/a Norway Rat, will have to do some Googling tonight..
@mayorofnothing: Most squirrels in Kingwood are tree squirrels vs ground squirrels/chipmunks. Even tree squirrels like to bury nuts/acorns in the ground. However, those holes look like squirrels may have dug up their nuts/acorns. If it's not squirrels, then I have no idea of the critter that caused those holes.
