I remember one year - Rita or Katrina I forget which, but one of those monsters kept waffling until Finally Houston looked as if we would get a direct hit - we had to scramble like mad to get our house bordered up - dh even fell off a ladder from second story - thought he'd broken his foot but only sprained. We ended up attempting an evacuation that was called for Houston but turned back and stayed with the inlaws. We would have never gotten out safely, evacuation decision made too late, storm was to hit overnight. THANK GOD it turned eastward at the last few hours and decimated poor Louisiana.The waffling of storms are so nerve racking

@IzzysMommy : Yep , that's it. We were VERY lucky to be in a spot where we had the option to turn around and go back to face the music. We were terrified of getting stranded. That night I remember standing on my inlaws front lawn and felt the weirdest gust of wind……..by this time we knew the storm's track had moved eastward - I shuddered at the thought of Louisianan's caught in the path of that monster.

@Stealth83 : I'll remind you of that as one barrels our way. I just had a thought! We can evacuate to your new place. 🤗🤗 problem solved. Evacuation plan - check.

@Ruger5 : Wow. 6th above average season. The only thing that happened at my house was a storm tore down my back fence and I had to get it replaced.
