Humble ISD Elementary Robotics Open (HERO) 2023

By Joshua Koch | April 13, 2023

It was time to put their work to the test. Months of writing code and building the corresponding robot to perform the functions it was coded to came down to the Humble ISD Elementary Robotics Open on March 4.

Kingwood Middle School gym was packed for the event, which featured fourth and fifth grade students from 27 elementary school campuses from around Humble ISD. A total of 106 teams and more than 500 students participated in the mega robotics event.

“Teams were judged by community members as they raced the clock to complete challenges around the playing field,” Humble ISD Coordinator of Digital/Virtual Learning and Innovation Shelly Veron said. “This year the theme for the competition was HERO Prime. Challenges related to real-world robotics applications in shipping and logistics.”
