Humble ISD held its district-wide spelling bee on Saturday, January 29, bringing together winners from elementary and middle school campuses to compete for the top prize.
Kingwood Middle School eighth grader Morgan Sands claimed the title of Humble ISD Spelling Bee Champion. The runner-up was Jack Fields Elementary fourth grader Elijah Beatty.
Sands moves on to compete in the 2023 Scripps Regional Spelling Bee hosted by Houston Community College on March 25, 2023. If Sands is unavailable for the contest, Beatty would compete.
Each year Humble ISD hosts a spelling bee for Grades 3-8. Students first participate in a campus level bee, and winners move on to the district level competition. Spelling is only a portion of what these students study. They also learn words’ origins, parts of speech and definitions.
Congratulations to all our campus spelling bee winners and runner-ups for the 2023 contest.
