May not have had any insurance, and were afraid of losing their ride to work, have kids to feed. No, it is Not right, Not to have the basic coverage Current, but they Did do their best, and left a note and cash. I had someone wipe out the side of my BMW a few years ago at an Astros game; the hauled it, no note, no money, nada.. They did pull the footage from the paid lot I was in, and it was a big, brand new Mercedes that hit me. Could not see a plate, so my insurance did a hit and run. I feel like they had Less integrity (but more money?), than the person that hit you. You can prob claim as a hit and run, and your insurance will cover it; mine gives me one of those every year, so ask about your policy. I agree that you could get a good body shop to fix that up for you.

It looks very minor and unless it is affecting the operation of the vehicle itself, I would not fix it IMHO.

Just unfortunate all the way around. If I file a claim with insurance the car will be listed that it was in an "accident" lowering the value. Appreciate all the insight from everyone. Will get some quotes outside of insurance and take it from there.

@jonton2 : I had someone hit me in a parking lot. I have accident forgiveness for one accident (minor) a year that doesn't count on my insurance. They filed it as a hit and run which they explained in Texas means you don't get charged the deductible- which took car of the repair and furnished a rental.

@jonton2 : True but it will also describe the accident repair. I wouldn't be deterred from buying a used car that had bumper repair like I might be a collision damaging a whole door panel . Unfortunate, indeed . But even if her insurance was covering it they would give you any more than the repair costs and wouldn't consider the car fax issue.
