There were houses in elm grove that the edge of the roof ran off on the brick. Why not put awning on a house is beyond me but I wouldn't buy a house like that and I would give the property a mark down. Some dude bought it put the awning on and re roofed to match. Looks pretty good to me. I didn't take pictures because I am not a nosey neighbor. Maybe some of you should walk away from the stance that it has to be the same ole to be happy. They have metal roofing that looks as good as any asphalt and sound resistant too. I'd give my left nut to have a durable 50 year + roof on a house but the precious HOA does not approve of it. 4951

I drive by this house almost every day. Â I realize I'm in the minority but I don't think it looks that bad. Â In fact it appears that the homeowner is trying to have the addition fit in with the neighborhood 4951

Just looking at the picture, it appears the homeowner is doing a good job matching the addition to the similar style seen through out Bear Branch. One of the nice things (to me, at least) is that very few of the homes in that neighborhood look exactly alike. When we were looking to buy a home we went through many homes there and not one of them was a repeat of another, inside and outside.Â 4951

@Maisey1:Â Bear Branch were all custom built homes. No models to choose from & you could bring in your own builder.

@allymansfield, that isn't a home. Â It is a garage build in the back yard of a home. Â Pretty major difference.I don't have a dog in this race, but if I lived in that village, the HOA would most likely buy my house to get rid of me. Â Whomever is on the HOA that approved of this, was just out of line. Â Under the best most generous of circumstances, this does not, cannot, pass HOA guidelines. Â I have no doubt this couple will live in this home for years to come. Â But when the time comes that they sell, who would buy this, other than someone who wants to operate a business from their home? And that will open a new can of worms. Â Someone dropped the ball on this, and the HOA as well as the homeowner should be a bit worried about being sued.

@Fallon:

The individuals on the HOA are protected from such asinine lawsuits. You can try and sue the HOA. Then you can turn around and complain how people are always suing over stupid stuff.. . 4951
