It's been going on for a while. Who knows what went on with this project. It's been dug up for months! 4951

now I recognize that yard - last time we were by there, I thought they were prepping for plumbing/drainage lines.  perhaps they were foundations instead!  At first, they were clearing the yard and I expected to see a pool.... 4951

I thought that too initially.  Obviously, not so. 4951

I am surprised that this is an approved structure?  They make such a big deal about weeds in the flower beds, grass over the curbs, mold on houses etc and they let something like this be built?  Kind of goes with the monstrosity a couple of blocks from there.  Must be something good if they are using steel beams?  I am still curious... 4951

@FreebyrdIII: This kind of puts me in a letter writing mood. Personally I don't think it belongs in our neighborhood. It is obviously going to be something large and seen by anyone who drives by, not to mention the additional driveway onto Sandy Forks. I thought there were rules on the type of construction allowed?

Interesting, Was looking at the deed restrictions and this does not seem to fit in a number of areas such as additional structures other than main residence and garage can be no higher than 8 foot and no building shall be erected other than the single family dwelling and garage...  I am sure this has cost big dollars... 4951

It's a workshop. There used to be a pool that was filled in, that's why it has been taking so long. As far as I know, they got permission. I've only met them in passing so I'm not really in the know on all of it though. 4951

Personally, my concern goes to the affect that a "non residential" structure like this has on the property values in the area.  Also once one has been errected, the precedent has been set for more to be built.  I wouldn't want it on my block. 4951

Sorry to be a jerk. But, not your property, not your concern.

That's not true. Not in a managed community. 4951

To be clear, while it IS a workshop, it's not for a commercial venture. The owner tinkers on his personal antique cars. Period. So it's not like it will be bringing in industry or additional traffic. He's a retired husband who wanted a little extra shop space. I doubt it's going to be setting any precedents. 4951
