She probably has no place to leave the kid so she has to have the kid with her. I feel sorry for her. The only food banks close to HEB are the one in Humble which is a good ways to walk and you have to get there within a certain time frame. The other one is at a church in Kingwood but it is also a long way to walk from where she is. As to women's shelters - one in Humble and another in Conroe. How to get there for someone like that is a major problem. There is no public transportation that will take them there. Most of the churches won't do anything for people like that except tell them to go to a food bank but if they don't have transportation to get there then that is not useful. There is a food bank at Friendship United Methodist Church but it is one day a week for a couple of hours. You have to be there at the right time on the right day and have a means by which to take your food home. No transportation and that is not useful. She can't put canned goods and day old bread on top of the kid to get it home.
Right now it is pouring rain and cold out there. I hope she and the kid have some place to shelter. They both could get sick if they are out in the cold rain. She really needs a way to get to the women's shelter over in Conroe but as I said there is no public transport.

Her outfit doesn't match!

The Salvation army facility is on the outskirts of downtown. That is a long way to walk if she does not have transportation. There really is no shelter in this area for homeless women with kids. We need one. It might help her to call the police. Maybe they can help her get transportation to a women's shelter. We need to be compassionate with people like that when we can. Often it is not their fault that they wind up in such situations - abusive husbands, unemployment, etc. People wind up in bad situations all the time through no fault of their own and we all would want somebody to help us if we had a run of bad luck. Its wet and cold out there and not a day a person would pick to stand on a street corner if they really didn't need to.

@Hecate : The point here is she doesnt want to be in a shelter. She cant collect cash if she is in a shelter. She doesnt need a ride. She has a vehicle.

Sorry I took such a bad pic, but as I was trying to read the sign as best as I could , I read the part that says" God bless". They're a disgrace that they involve Him to commit crimes . Give them nothing but dirty looks

@Cstomio123 : Dirty looks for what? Just ignore if you choose not to participate. I wouldn't even teach that to my kids to give dirty looks. If you don't agree with something, just ignore and move on. I don't think God would have us give dirty looks either. In fact, the Bible would encourage believers to witness to her.

Sort of like I'd do to any unruly youngster acting up in public…..and to give the message that street begging is frowned upon - a no no (or used to be, and certainly should be again. Jesus himself tersely admonished bad behavior in public, so I sorta took his lead on the finger wagging…..then went home & prayed for all those moms who drag their babies out as props for street begging. Im a hard *** NO when it comes to street begging but add little chilluns to the mix I come unglued.
