From my past experiences they are made to ask for money to pay off the debt to their family members who sponsored them to come to united States. They do this until they pay their loan off.
Most of them come from wealthy families but they feel you have to start from the bottom the way they did by begging for money and scamming people.
Lying and scamming people is just a way of life for them. And if so many people wouldn't fall for it then they wouldn't be doing it. Sometimes they hold signs saying a kid has cancer and they are raising money.
The men buy cars at auctions and fix them roll back miles and sell them online.
I bought a van from one once and he had rolled back the miles by like 200k I was furious. Needless to say I got my money back and the main leader guy told me a bit of what they do. 😠😡
