@allymansfield  I'm from NJ, and I also have high standards for pizza. I gave up eating pizza here until I found Brooklyn Pizza, it is the only pizza I will eat. It reminds me of the pizza I used to get on the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore, it is truly NY style pizza.

@lcoupert: Would that be Brooklyn Pizza near Kemah or Brooklyn Pizzeria on 1960?

>> Only place(s) are Pinks and Star down in Houston,  they are pretty good, more Connecticut style, but good nonetheless.

@allymansfield:
Yes, Connecticut style pizza - it's all the rage.

Never knew there was such a thing, nor do I know what the heck that is.

@Spork:

Similar to NY, just slightly different crust and spices. 4951

@Spork: They add sesame to the crust along with oil so it gives it a crispier on the outside softer on the inside type texture.  For spices, they tend to be heavy on oregano.  Cheese is abundant yet thin some how.  Its a very flat looking type of pizza, almost like the dough never rose.  Where as NY pizza is a lighter fluffier crust, not as much oregano, but a very distinct sauce with thicker cheese.  The real difference is the crust because the water is different, that is why NY has the best bagels, it is in the water.

OK, NY folks....My memory needs lots of help.  Google isn't going to jog it bc I won't remember name or location.I'm trying to remember the name of the pizza place we ate at in NY last year.  A little hole in the wall...maybe six chairs.  Lots of carryout. Long lines. Huge slices.  Was recommended as the best pizza in NY (I know they all say that.)  But it was AMAZING.Have tried to tell friends but I didn't document the name or the place and now my overloaded brain can't remember. 4951

@StillCynthia#1: I'm your neighbor.....West Islip!  I am loud though, that stereotype is defiantly true, especially when I get excited lol.  But no horrid accent, thank God.  My sister on the other hand...

@sh56: Yeah......you just described about every pizza place in the NY area.  I can name you a dozen in any town that are like that at any point in the day...We are kind of crazy about our pizza, and for good reason.  As long as they serve it on a paper plate, you are pretty much guaranteed to have awesome pizza.  As my husband says with Texas BBQ, the sketchier the joint looks, hand painted sign/tailor/etc. the better the food!

@StillCynthia#1: Kingwood Bagel is pretty good.  They will do an egg sandwich on a bagel that will get the job done.  Not like Bronx bagels on Arther Avenue, but so far the best I have found down here.
