I bought this off Amazon. I never knew they made these.

After the hurricane blew through, a few of us car guys ran over to @Mellen 's house to assist in cleaning up, as he had quite a bit of work on his hands. He had a saw similar to this and it worked great. Amazon offers various varieties of this small battery powered chain saw, most come with batteries. The downside to that is the batteries are usually very low quality and don't last very long. I chose this saw because all my battery powered tools are DeWalt, and I have numerous batteries at home. This saw actually uses my DeWalt batteries. Best of all the saw itself with the coupon is less than $20! They also offer similar saws that use batteries for Milwaukee, Ryobi, Makita and others, as well as saws that come with their own batteries.
The saw came the other day and it seems well made for a Chinese product. My expectations were low but were greatly exceeded by seeing the actual tool. Also, it comes with an extra chain as well. I highly recommend this or a similar product for those of you who do tree and shrub trimming at home. I cut through a 4" diameter pine branch with this tool and it went through the branch like a hot knife through butter.

@Ticagro : Those are really handy. I've got the Milwaukee 12 volt edition of that, which they call a hatchet, and it is very useful. I can work in a yaupon grove cutting them down at the stump, without 2 stroke chainsaw exhaust all in my face. They are lightweight and made for one hand use as well. Emoticon

@Ticagro :
I bought a similar saw last year but I've never used it because I can't figure out how to properly get the chain on the thing. So it sits in its box in the garage. Maybe I'll bring it in and give it another go. It would have come in handy after Beryl.

@CaffeineFree : Let me know if you need help getting the chain put on - I'm around most of this week.

That's why I don't use our pole saw as often as I'd like to. Damn chains.

@lisapisabobisa : Yes, Lisa - that's the one. They make the same saw with more powerful motors as you can see in the choices, but I'm not cutting big trees down with this tool, I'm just trimming up crepe myrtles, broad leaf palm stalks with nasty thorns on the stems, and cutting up the occasional branch that falls on the lawn. This cheaper model works just fine for those purposes. For $20, I figure if it breaks I can just toss it. So far so good.

I don't want my hand that close to a chainsaw.

@kingwooddiscgolf : This tool is really light weight and very easy to control. It weighs about the same, maybe a touch more, as a battery powered drill.

@Ticagro : I would buy this but hubbies tools are all Bosch and those batteries will not work on this one. I love that it is small. After this last storm I use the battery operated Sawzall for cutting some pretty big branches. I think it's a little heavy but it works.

@kingwooddiscgolf : Then I guess you will never use a larger chainsaw.
