@cbear : I skipped school ONCE. No one told me they would call my parents that morning when I didn't show up. They were terrified about what could have happened to me all day. It was our first year living in Houston from a small town.

There are those of us whose parents received more calls because we did show up.

I don't think I ever skipped school and I didn't ever have to hide being drunk because my parents didn't give a ****.
My parents were really hands off people, they really let me do whatever I wanted most of the time under the condition that I went to school. As long I was going to school, I had no curfew or real rules of any kind.
I dont know if that was a good thing or not. But that's how it was.

@Gingersnap : At my high school they did not notify parents unless you did not show up for first period. After that, you could leave and they would never know. I skipped my afternoon classes fairly regularly! Not the drinking though! Sometimes I would just stay in art class because I was into whatever project I had going. Other times I would leave campus and go to lunch with boyfriend and not come back for afternoon classes. This was in my senior year and by the time I was a senior I already had more credits than I needed to graduate so I was not concerned! As a matter of fact, for the last semester I just took whatever classes I wanted to because I was really already done! Wish life was that simple again!

Happyface : Interesting story.

@cbear :Well, that was a loooong time ago. We had open campus and could leave for lunch if we wanted and had designated smoking areas all over the school! A very different time!

@Happyface : We had a few "smoking lounges" on campus too but....gates were locked from the parking lot to the road along with a guard.

@cbear : Well, you are most likely younger than me. Eventually schools got smart and stopped all that business!

@cbear : I got the only spanking I ever got from my dad. But mostly I was sad I worried them. Oh and the spanking didn't hurt. So glad it wasn't from my mom.
