Flood Watch vs. Flood Warning

Loading Image...

As we prepare for hurricane season, be sure you know the difference between a Flood Warning and a Flood Watch!

A flood watch means BE PREPARED. A flood warning means TAKE ACTION.

When a Flood Watch is in effect, it means flooding is possible in your area.

When a Warning occurs, it means flooding is imminent or already occurring.

Water is POWERFUL! During a flood, water levels and the rate water is flowing can QUICKLY change.

Don’t underestimate the power of water. It doesn't take much to sweep you or your car away! Six inches of fast moving water can knock over an adult and sweep them away. Twelve inches of fast moving water can carry away a small car!

Turn around, don’t drown!
