How is dredging a waste? Tons of silt are dumped into the river during every flood event, reducing the river's capacity. Removing the silt allows for greater water capacity. But what would I know? I only have a master's degree in Geology. 4951

@Stella2020 : Greater capacity does not mean less risk of flooding only more drinking water capacity. The amount of water in the San Jacinto river is dictated by the height of the spillway and the height of the banks of the river. The river height will always be the river height. If Lake Houston was 300 feet deep it would not increse the water flow (unless you install deeper gates or lower the spillway). 4951

Welp, its gonna be a slooow process in getting things fixed or repair. A mixture of several government entities involved as well as private properties. Be prepared, buy yourself you own house dam. 4951
