@ZMAN : Big YAY!!! Walking is better for your entire body, not to mention your mind, than almost any other exercise! My brother is an orthopedic surgeon. He said that walking is best for those over 45, as it builds bone density, helps manage weight, keeps the joints healthy and mobile, and is Great, mentally,as well!! I have not been able to walk the last 4 days, just the circus at this time, but I am back at it, tomorrow. I Miss it, when I do not get to walk! I listen to music or XM radio talk stuff. It is restorative, and taking a shower when I am done, then getting into my jammies and bed, Has helped my sleep patterns!

@ZMAN : That's amazing!! I wish we had sidewalks where we live. It would make it even safer to walk.

@ZMAN : I broke down & got the hokas. Worth it! I got the Clifton 8 (last years model) on sale on the hoka website for $115ish. I walk over 7mi a day on avg, 5 on a dedicated walk, and Im over 50. I figured it was time I started saving my knees, hips & ankles. I have a lot of classmates with knee problems, even some that have had replacements. But think about it, my age group grew up doing every sport you can think of wearing converse or keds or some other pitifully hard rubber sole. Hokas are expensive, but knees cost more🤷🏻‍♀️

@Txmomx5 : I've been wearing Hokas for a few years also. I think I'm on my second or third pair.... also the Clifton 8's I believe. Got my first pair at REI, and subsequent pair online. Extremely comfortable shoes.

@SandyKnee : I wore them into the new Ace the 1st day I got them. I thought "man, this floor is great!"…I looked down & it was just concrete. It was my fantastic springy shoes🤣

@Hit_Bull_Win_Steak : I certainly understand being busy, I have a fulltime job, a household to keep up with and 2 active kids under 10. But the truth is, most people waste a ******* of time.
I think the biggest help is I make sure to get as close to 8 hours of sleep every night so that I can be ultra productive during the day. I also find that making time for exercise somehow makes everything else I have to do easier. Its really about being efficient.
I do the bulk of my walking starting just before sunrise from 6:30-8am (usually 10-12,000 steps). Sometimes I squeeze in 2 miles at lunch (about 35 minutes or 4-5000 steps). And then I'll do an hour in the evening at sunset (6-8000 steps).

@ZMAN : OK Z, go ahead and get some new shoes. Now here's the deal..your doing 175,000 steps a week @ 52 wks in a year your at 9,100.000 steps per year.. It's about 20 million steps around the world, At that pace it'll take about 2 1/2 years to walk around the Earth. Let me know when you want to start and I'll be your manager & coach and I'll be operating the drone that will fly over once a day checking on you. So waddya think ? Now we just gotta find a sponsor !
