@StormChaser : Our rain soaked in we just didn't get enough. We need about 12 more inches in the next month to catch up.

@StormChaser : True. I'm sure you always get 10-30% runoff. Point is 5" is nothing compared to being behind by 20+ inches. We were so dry and hot for two months the soil was completely dried out all the way down many feet. Hopefully we get an inch or two Monday and that starts a new trend.

Unfortunately, it looks like the rain we received just ran right off & did not make much, if any, difference in our drought conditions.

@StormChaser: You wouldnt think so unless you are a gardener but the truth is that the drier the ground is the harder it is for water to soak in! I have seen it in my plant pots. If I let the soil get overly dry the water runs off the top before it even starts to soak in. Then i go back and rewater a second time so the water will soak into the soil and down to the roots. We need a couple giant rewaters around here!
