@ZMAN : I've never built one but thought seriously about it. Very cool and nice that it can be customized to your needs and design preferences. Great for small vehicles and easy to store when not in use.Since I have a truck I kind of veered towards one of these fold out units which are also versatile and very roomy. Not to hijack your thread

I've been watching some of those same videos. I'd like to pickup one of the HF heavy duty folding trailers and build it out to use as a motorcycle trailer with a rack that would allow me to mount a rooftop tent over the motorcycle and a box on the front for gear. The problem right now is finding the HF trailers...the heavy duty versions have been on backorder since the spring and just got bumped back again until November.

@ZMAN : do you sleep in tents? I'm not a tent type of camper 😀 hated at a kid and sure as hell don't need to do it as an adult. Looks cool tho, have fun

@Txbutterfly : I will sleep in a tent but I really hate it. That's why this is so compelling. I can put a real mattress and a fan in it.

Yes, my friend did one with her jeep years ago but has since moved on to a slightly larger version so she can bring all her dogs with her and everyone sleep in the bed (her dogs and herself).

@ZMAN : That's a great idea, go for it! Figure out some way for your children to participate in making it. That will be more fun for them and they will take better care of it once you are taking trips in it.

Bet you would do an Awesome job, and be a big attraction of others wanting to copy your design. My Dad & older brother built a camper out of an old milk truck. Created queen bed out of benches inside, sink with running water. Roof had pop up A-Frame sleepers on two sides for we four kids. Mom sewed some heavy duty screens to keep out bugs. Ladders went up on each side so we could exit. We carried 2 100 gallon water containers, as my Dad, Loved to drive down the beach at Cape Hateras, NC. Far Far Way from anyone else. Each year we would see the Multi-Million dollar homes, those that survived the hurricanes & those that did not. We built an out house, & that thing survived for the 7 years we returned to our campsite ⛺️!❤️
