Dead rat

We found this little guy taking a long nap, and now I'm wondering what killed him. He doesn't appear to be injured and we don't have anything poisonous on our property. Old age, maybe? 4951

we don't have anything poisonous on our property.

@HollyHobby : Do your neighbors? Poison would take a bit to kill it. 4951

@mutton : Yes, we have a fountain. I only use Dunks in it, though, and those are safe for animals. Maybe it's a neighbor's water feature. 4951

@HollyHobby : A dead roach that was killed with insecticide won't kill a rat. That one likely got some real poison somewhere nearby (neighbors maybe). 4951

While I haven't actually seen any rats I have noticed holes in the bottom of our fence that appear to be rat holes. The neighbor behind us said he had seen a few in his garden that he is not taking care of this year and had caught some in traps. 4951
