Constable Mark Herman: Suspect Kamrun King Arrested for Evading

On October 31, 2023, deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 7800 block of Trophy Place Drive. The driver refused to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit.

Deputies were able to bring the vehicle to a stop and identified the driver as Kamrun King. "Kamrun King was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Evading in a Motor Vehicle.

His bond and court information have not been set at this time." - Constable Mark Herman

What are people thinking when they evade the police? I mean either they have a probation/warrant, under the influence but they're only making the matter worse for themselves and get arrested and another violation against them. Not to mention they'll be released on a low bond and on the streets again until they have to appear in court for sentencing for each offense. Sad! I hope no one was injured in his evasion before being captured and arrested. So young and sad. These people need to be put into a scared straight institution while awaiting their court dates versus being released on a low bond. IMO.

Many learn that inviting police pursuit can lead to lawsuit.

If there's a chance to get paid, why not provoke the cops? Sympathetic juries in a new social justice era can lead to big payoffs.

To many of them, it's like playing the lottery.

$100 is the usual bond for DUI. I don't understand why evading does not lead to a higher bond. Seems like that would be an indication that someone might not show up to court.
