Excuse my house! I just took down Christmas and don't have everything back in place. It looks ugly.
 
My son made the dumplings for me!
 
Oh, and he shredded my chicken too! Time saver!

@Annie : I use biscuits. Add butter to the onion, celery and carrot mix.

@Gigix4 : My grandmother married a German man. I think she must have gotten the recipe from him. This posted dumpling question lead to me posting a new question on the Forum. Read my new post the most interesting love story you have personal knowledge of. Emoticon

@Annie : I use my biscuit recipe. 2 cups self rising flour, 1/4 cup of vegetable oil, 3/4 cup of buttermilk and salt to taste. Instead of rolling out the dough, cutting and baking them I just pinch and roll the dough to however big a want my dumplings and plop them into my soup. Super easy and you can always double or triple the recipe if you want more.

It's interesting reading comments as everyone has their own unique dumpling recipe. It's the same with dressing. For dumplings I make a simple dough. Roll out thin, and cut it into rectangular dumplings. Dressing is cornbread dressing .
