Ruger5 : Looks like that might be a dogwood tree blooming.

@buffaloglenn : How observant! Plus there is a bit of beauty!

@Bloom : Years ago when I was visiting my daughter and she had me go with her to run an errand. I don't remember the reason whether she had to deliver something or whatever. Anyway she would not go alone and it was broad daylight. It was back a lane off Ford Road or Mills Branch don't remember which but when we got back to where the residence was it looked like some of these pictures. Right here in Kingwood/Porter.

@beadweaver : When we were looking here in Kingwood I was in some close - you couldn't see past the filth/dirt. Probably nice places once they were cleaned up.

@mutton : I don't understand why especially in this area. Sheer laziness. IMO

@Nusiance : There is a lot more going on in Porter than laziness. She is not like that but is surrounded by it...

@Nusiance :
We were looking for rentals and we were looking at kings manor homes. Nice neighborhood from what I saw. The house lol, the guy told us he was fixing the back screen door as the last tenant broke it. Go in the side door. Omg my dh opened the door and stepped in. The stench the emitted from the door sent me running to the street. My dh went in (oh did I freak on that), he came out puking.
I get a little mess but I'm seeing filth. As insurance adjusters, you would think people knowing we are coming would at least flush the toilet (if possible), or at least take out one or two of the half dozen trash bags overflowing. Gross.

@mutton : I was born and raised in southern Ohio. We are/were considered Appalachia but I never new it. I knew it but considering how some lived I just didn't feel like it. Does that make sense? We didn't have a lot but had employed parents, a house and food. Mom made a lot of my sister and my clothes but and we had a happy home. Yes, there was poverty but I wasn't affected by it. I know some of my school mates were though.

@beadweaver : We were in some that smelled but ones we saw weren't that bad. Just proves that you never know what goes on behind closed doors. Yep I don't understand the landlord? (if that is who he was) would even let you in one that bad. How horrible!

We were looking for one to buy but looked at some that were for sale that tenants in them. Those were the ones that were bad.

@Nusiance : I can say I knew what hunger was like but we were always clean. And so was our surroundings.

@Nusiance :
Oh some people, things I could say.
As I look, I'm also looking at duplexes to triplex. I'd even do a decent four plex but what I see, every tenant would be evicted on the spot. They would have stipulations that the seller had to get them out and clean it up. Some I wouldn't give $20,000 for. Let alone $200,000 or more. I'm talking nationwide.

@mutton : I agree soap is not that expensive. My sister and I visited one of my cousins one time and there house was horrible. Both doors open, chickens walking through the house and of course filth and I know he wasn't raised that way. When my sister saw the chicken she just about had a heart attack. My ex and I visited one of his friends many years ago. They lived not too awful far from where I was raised but in a trailer next to a creek. Nothing but mud everywhere. I wouldn't sit on their sofa it was so dirty. They wanted us to eat and I said I wasn't hungry. A little soap would have gone a long way there. Didn't know his wife but knew his mom and dad and he wasn't raised like that. Sad.
