I used to work in the floral department at the little Kroger many years ago. It was ALOT of work but fun also. I remember having to be there at 6:00 a.m. on some mornings for both Valentine'sDay and Mother's Day, would help set up the supplies for the outside tent. I remember some days I would be so tired I didn't think I would have the energy to walk out to my car but I had wonderful coworkers and everyone pitched in. I have really good memories from working there.

@Beaches :
They were working hard all over the store; the tent outside was busy, too! I know what you mean about days like that, but they can be enjoyable, because you know you have accomplished a lot, like you did.

Tx just doesn't seem to produce them commercially…

@MissAmericanPie : But Louisiana does! Louisiana strawberries are good, too. I've heard that strawberries grown in Ruston, Louisiana, are the very best Louisiana has to offer -- but if you want Ruston -grown strawberries, you've got to go to Ruston to get them. They sell out fast.

I've never been to Ruston so I don't know about this personally. But I have been to the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival and strawberries there were very good.

Busy Moms Day at Kroger! Stopped by Kroger for a few things, and found it Very busy. Mostly with men, who were buying Mother's Day gifts. Nice idea. Kroger, however, in their usual 'way', is charging $23 for a dozen chocolate dipper strawberries! Get the berries ( 2.99 for a 1lb container), and a can of Duncan Hines chocolate frosting, and dip them yourself. Give the other $18 to Mom, and she can choose some cute jammies, at WalMart! Did you men buy something for your wives, for Mother's Day; maybe for your kids to give her, or 'just because'?

@LittleTexas : Strawberries are only .97 cents at HEB this week. My girls made chocolate covered strawberries and they are delish! They use this

LittleTexas : I don't buy strawberries anymore. They're always sour and unripe, even dipped in chocolate, tho it helps the sourness. Even in ice cream, they're sour! When I was a kid in CA, I loved strawberries bc they were sweet and delicious. It's just not the case anymore!

@MissAmericanPie : The .97 cent ones I got at HEB this week are very good.
