larpa : It's been verified! I'm a Boomer.

@SandyKnee : You seem like one of the good ones though so I won't hold it against you. Emoticon

"Baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. They're currently between 57-75 years old

@larpa : I hadn't realized until this discussion that our family has no Baby Boomers in it. Dh and I are a little older and our daughters are all a little younger. No Boomers. Now I'm kind of sorry about that.

@Ruger5 : And so it goes… this is not the America my parents grew up in nor esp not the one some of my immigrant grandparents and great grandparents grew up in. Change is constant, flexibility is key. I've learned much from my successful millennial DD. She did not have the opportunities I had ( free college) and she put herself through school and is very successful in the cyber security sector. And she will be more successful than hubs and I ever were. Heck the computer programs she talks about I don't understand- she might as well be speaking Latin- though I'd probably understand Latin better. BUT she's taught me much about making life easier and safer through this electronic age.

Through her and her friends I've learned to never write off any younger generations, just as she and her friends have learned from hubs and I that Boomers aren't just old people complaining about them. We can be cool too! Lol I remember my Dad lamenting what the world would come to when the Boomers came into power. He saw us as lazy, spoiled and entitled. Every generation thinks they're the bad *** of all generations 🤷‍♂️

@larpa : Late Boomers, say '59-64, tend to be a much different animal than early Boomers. They have more in common with early Gen-X. Reference: Many of my cousins and my first wife were late Boomers. The wife would have hurt someone bad for calling her a Boomer...

@Quixote : Okay, I am confused again lol. I have always read I am Gen X on all other charts by one year. This shows me as a late bloomer and I think that is a new term. (in some ways I was a later bloomer, in some ways no) ... so which am I??

Born in 1965.

@Quixote : I think I could be a mixture of boomer/Gen X. I was definitely Gen X when younger, but as I have aged I see I am boomerish. I had a lot of much older sisters and older parents, so maybe a mix.

My sister will be having a baby in about 2 months…and it occurred to me that this new baby may very well live to the year 2100…just wild.

I hate the intergenerational fighting that often happens online. The world changes, and each generation tries to do the best they can given the problems and opportunities that existed at the time, each with their own strengths and flaws. I know that my sister's baby will encounter a much different world than what I grew up with.

Just imagine what the Millennials and Gen Z will see and learn in their lifetimes. They may see new forms of energy, transportation, answers to the JFK assassination, and the truth of UFO existence. Being an early Boomer I'm hoping to see that in my lifetime.

What about Depression-era people? I call them the Downers.
I'm sure they meant well, but when I was a kid nothing was more tiring than hearing about how good I had it, about how my generation didn't appreciate what we had, etc.
