Your Local Businesses series, this week we sat down with Jeremy Roy, owner of Great American Cookie Kingwood!
Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Great American Cookies started in June 1977 and began franchising shortly after. The brand grew in malls throughout the country but mainly in the Southeast US. We are most famously known for our Cookie Cakes but offer a wide variety of cookies and brownies.
How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
I started with Great American Cookies when I was 19 years old in Alexandria, LA. Today I still own that location, 30 years later! As a kid growing up, I was always creating new cookie recipes at home. Little 
did I know that cookies would become my career path. I have had up to 20+ locations throughout Texas at one time in a different partnership. Currently I have three locations in Louisiana and now this newest location in Kingwood, which is where I live now.
Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
One of our tag lines at Great American Cookies is Home of the Cookie Cake. We are very well known for the deliciousness of our Cookie Cake and the fact that we can have it personalized and ready for you in 15 minutes or less! In addition to our Cookie Cakes, we are also know for our Double Doozies. A Double Doozie is two cookies of your choice with a scoop of icing sandwiched in between! We also have a wide variety of cookie flavors every day. Currently we are carrying 15 different flavors daily as well as 5 different brownie flavors! All of our batter is made in a manufacturing facility in Atlanta, GA that is owned by Great American Cookies. The batter is 
proprietary and only made for our retail locations. In addition, our chocolate fudge icing is also proprietary and made only for Great American Cookies.
What is your favorite part of running this business?
It's a fun business to run. When people come in, they are excited to indulge in our products and are generally very happy and pleasant. I love to put smile on people's face especially if they are having a rough day. We are that escape for them! In regard to our Cookie Cakes, they have become a staple in many households and we have lots of people who celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions with us every year. In fact, we customers who have had a Great American Cookies Cookie Cake every year for 
their birthday since they were 1 years old. Even into their 20's and 30's they still insist on celebrating their birthday with one of our Cookie
Cakes!
Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
Everyone! People of all ages LOVE our products.
Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
Our everyday in store specials are Buy 5 Get 1 FREE or Buy 10 Get 3 FREE on our regular size cookies. We also have a Buy 3 Get 1 FREE special on our brownies, Double Doozies and Cookie Cake slices every day! Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?
We truly love being part of the communities that we are in and partnering with other business, schools, churches, etc. as we work together to make our community a fun, safe and thriving place. We have fundraising opportunities that are available for all types of groups. We even have a closed off party room/area that is free to use if you purchase your Cookie Cake from us. It's on a first come, first serve basis.
How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
We look forward to getting to know the members and families of our community and would love the opportunity to create a memorable celebration for their birthdays, graduations, anniversaries and any other special occasion each and every year. I have another franchise agreement for Great American Cookies for the Houston area so we will
have to see where that leads us in time. But for now our focus is becoming the go-to for Kingwood when they plan their next celebration!
