As part of our ongoing "Getting To Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Vivian Fragoza of Bella Salon Nail & Day Spa.
Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Bella Salon has been open since May 1st, 2011. We started with just doing hair services and facial waxing; however, four years into the business we had requests to add more services, to become a one stop shop. So that is what we have done. Our new services include eyelashes extensions, massage, facials, and more!
How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
Beauty care has always come natural for me, since I was in high school. I used to do all my cousins, friends and family's hair just for fun. After high school I attended beauty school to obtain my license. After working in a few salons in town, I decided to open my own. I wanted to make people feel like home, comfortable and at ease.
Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
I started from the ground up; I did not know anyone! That was tough! My business has grown by referrals and now I am able to advertise, support schools and community functions to help grow my clientele. I listen to my clients, listen to their stories. My ability as a Master Stylist, our flexible schedules and my reasonable prices are what keeps my clients coming back. It's a one stop shop; we do it all without breaking your pocket book.
What is your favorite part of running this business?
The flexibility that I can be here in two minutes, being my own boss, running a successful team and of course my loyal clients!
Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?Everyone I have from all walks of life, some come and relax and tell me their whole life story, some feel like family and bring me food and drinks and some bring their heart in their hands to be healed. I service both men and women clients. I have been told that I have "magic fingers" especially at the washing station.
Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?I am dedicated to my business. I answer the phone at any time day or night. I love to support our local schools and community.
I don't have much, but I take pride in what I have because there are others that have less!
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I speak fluently in Spanish, yet I can easily switch from Spanish to English in a heartbeat. I am very proud of where I come from and my family.
How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?
I have faith that everyone who gives us an opportunity to serve you will be forever clients.
Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
$10 off combination of Mani and Pedi
$15 off Facials or Massage
$90.00 for a full set Eyelash Extensions
I support the Kingwood High School Mustang Cards and the KPark Cards. These cards will give you 20% off my hair services through December 2019 and you can purchase one in my salon.
Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?Even though we didn't flood in Harvey, we did suffer from the devastation. I had planned to go on with our expansion plan to add massages, manicures, pedicures, and facials. During the process we hired contractors who ended up running with the money and never came back to finish the job. We had to start all over again. My fiancé got a flesh eating bacteria in his eye helping others devastated around Kingwood. The last couple of years have been long and tough but we are moving forward and staying positive just like the rest of our community! We believe that there's always a reason why people and events come into your life, it makes you who you are!
