What a surprise seeing this today. If you read the article, you'll note that retailers got reimbursed - not consumers - after they were ruled illegal by the SCOTUS.

well, that sure worked out really well for the retailers, didn't it? That means the tariffs became a profit for the retailers in addition to the profit margin factored into the price of the goods already..

The truth is a tad more complicated. Some lrge retailers claim they applied refunds to lower prices. The key words, some and claim.

RolloTomaso : Yes, but not all retailers. There is some phasing in of this.
And there is significant documentation requirement.
Before SCOTUS ruled, they were in limbo not knowing how this was going to play out. They were forced to make difficult market decisions about pricing.
This thing cost them plenty.
