Digger the movie. Just watched it. I get the message but was pretty disappointed and felt like it was a waste of time. I'm surprised so many stars are in it.
Pretty strange movie though IMO. Has any one else seen it?
What are your thoughts?

I haven't seen it...I had planned on seeing it, but I see a bunch of bad reviews, so maybe not...they say it might be one of Tom Cruise's biggest flops in the past 20+ years...
I read that opening weekend only made $8M out of the $125M production cost.

I saw it on opening day. There were only 5 people in the audience when it started and three when it ended. It was a total waste of time and I should have left halfway through the movie as well.

I don't know what people were expecting. I haven't seen it but I knew what it was before it came out. Alejandro González Inarritu doesn't do normal narrative movies. He did Babel, The Revenant, and Birdman. It's going to be weird and have some thinking to it. When I saw the first trailer that wasn't the teaser I was thinking something like Doctor Strangelove sort of feel but with the box office of Hudson Hawk. 😄 It will probably hit cult status 20 years down the line or something. You never know in the long run. The Thing almost killed Carpenter's career and picked up cult status later on. I'm thinking people are going expecting one of Tom Cruise's standard polished films and are getting smacked in the face with an artsy disjointed story instead. How close am I for those who've seen it? I'm curious.

#msg6025917Sophos3 : Yeah, but I like weird movies...I liked the Revenant and Birdman. The first trailer was interesting, but I had a bad feeling after seeing the 2nd trailer...
I get it. I haven't seen anything in a theatre for years anyhow. I'll watch it at some point for **** and giggles. I think criticism is just broken these days. Everything is the worst movie, album, or book ever or a smash. No middle ground anymore for the vast majority of reviews. Like I said, you never know what's going to catch on or not. Some shows people are thrilled about are canceled before a season is done. The studios are more interested in pushing out cookie cutter IP movies instead of taking a gamble on a film. Plus, now you basically have two to the companies that own everything. Kills creativity. I do like that some of the younger generation is starting to collect physical media again because of random censorship, cuts, commericals, and price tag of streaming. But that's a separate subject.

We'll wait until it is available to stream. We've found that it's easier to turn off a bad movie you're streaming than it is to walk out of a movie we've paid $20 for in a theater.
