It's going to be a Joe V's Smart Shop. Kind of like a scaled down Sam's Club. It's owned by HEB, so they'll be eliminating any competition in that spot. There is one in Pasadena. I've been in it.
I love shopping at H-E-B and have done so for many years. However, there are some unintended consequences of their predatory business model. I am fearful that here in Kingwood we will be left with three major shopping centers where the anchor location will be vacant. This is not a good look for Kingwood. I am fearful that no other grocery store will challenge the dominance of H-E-B in this area. Hopefully, these large spaces can be subdivided and some new businesses can occupy them.

@WTF : And people complained about Dollar Store. 4951
Appears HEB (back) will have a competitor after all..... I spoke to a business owner in the "soon to close" Randall's shopping center in the back and the leasing manager assures them that there are at least two grocers interested.
@FreebyrdII : this the same person that told you Michael's was going into the old HEB? 4951
@FreebyrdII : I do hope you are right and that it is a true HEB competitor. I do like HEB but am very much concerned about a monopoly. It would be nice to have a WholeFoods type store just for options but it could very well be a Fiesta or FoodTown type instead. 4951
