@HappyDay2016 : They can go to -20 bucks before they get a sandwich and drink.

Mine has always come home told me if her account is low. She got sick of sandwiches every day and decided she would eat at school.

What makes it seem like they are spending a lot is the ala carte. If they don't take the full meal they get charged individual for each item and a drink alone is a buck. It sucks but I told my kid to take everything and unfortunately throw out what she doesn't want or like. They are not allowed to share and can't leave the cafeteria with it.

She will be a freshman this year so I'm waiting to find out how the lunch works there.

@Ruger5 : I agree they shouldn't have all those kids but pills are not 4 bucks. I had great insurance that barely covered anything for birth control but all I had to pay to have my dd was 25 bucks the first visit to the OBGYN and nothing for the birth and I had a private room. They would rather pay for a birth than the birth control. Insurance is a bunch of crap.

@TheBeyonder : Well my dd is 14 and after I had her and went on birth control before Walmart came out with their 4 buck scripts it wasn't cheap.

I'm from NJ also and they only recently started building Walmart's there in my area so this wasn't an option for us.

Isn't it Huffman that is doing free breakfast for every student? I don't have a problem with it, even as a hard core republican, I know some do. Let everybody eat, and not feel embarrassed about it.

Roll1Stone : You are spreading disinformation. If kids don't know where their next meal is coming from it's because of the parents, not the lack of food being available. Food stamps, food banks, church's, etc... There is not a lack of food, but a lack of responsible parents!

@TheBeyonder : Not spreading anything , these are facts I have looked up , but ofcoarse who needs facts when I can look over the vast little bubble of growing up in Kingwood .

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Back awhile ago the stat was roughly 13.1 million children in this country go to bed hungry . Houston was at one time one of the highest rates in the country for hungry children . Again both stats are a year or so ago , so things might have changed . I have a difficult time making a judgement about someone unless I have walked in their shoes . You are correct when a parent does not take responsibility for their own child . Most of the time it is not the case . I know someone who works in the foster care system , and has lots of stores that would back what I am saying
