Sounds like someone forgot to teach this young "salesman" to ask for the Sale.

CVEK: it's never a good idea to open the door to someone you don't know or are not expecting.
Gigix4 and jv339 reacted About 15 years ago I had bees removed from my home and I was talking with the bee removal guy. He said "You would be surprised at the roof rats" at night living in this area. Kinda freaked me out and thankfully knock on all the wood in my house I haven't seen anything or heard anything.
I informed neighbors at job sites of minor and major issues. Let them know that we working in the neighborhood. Leave a card. Rarely get a call back though. One house had minor soffit damage a few years later major issue. Siding falling off as Masonite board got wet and turned into basically wet cardboard. All could have been prevented for a few hundred a few years earlier with soffit repair and paint. Now total replacement was needed. I watched it deteriorate over the years as I have several houses in the area. As for roof rats Kingwood has them. Many houses have access to the attic as they fail to inspect roof and small openings. New homes now days have several flaws and small holes, non finished areas, roof rats and squirrels favorite thing. Their new home as well.

I literally just had the same thing happen to me. A young man in a blue shirt knocked on my door. I yelled thru the door that I wasn't interested and he said I just want to tell you we did a roof renovation near you and they had a roof rat infestation. I just walked away because I assumed the sales pitch was about to start.
CVEK reacted I never heard of roof rats.... I do see the squirrels run across and around on lots of roofs and they love to chew on the wood and get it...
