New 55-Plus Rental Community Planned for Kingwood

Caldwell Companies plans to build Cadence Creek at Kingwood, a rental community for adults 55 and older on Woodridge Parkway just north of Northpark Drive. Announced plans call for about 220 residences, including one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments and cottages.

The community's website lists a pool, fitness center, community garden and dog park among its planned amenities, along with rooms for games, crafts and movies. Some homes will have attached garages and private fenced yards. At the location, Montgomery Central Appraisal District records identify a 16.026-acre tract owned by CC KINGWOOD RR LP. The district's deed history lists a July 9th, 2026 transfer from Woodridge Baptist Church to that company. Trees have started to be cut down and cleared at the site.

What do you think about this new development coming to Kingwood?

Thank you to elcid69 on the forums for pointing this out!

txmusil : First, Woodridge Baptist Church sold off land for those tiny homes across from St. Martha's. Now, this! I would say Woodridge Baptist Church is not in it to improve Kingwood. They are in it to line their pockets. I sure hope part of that 16 acres will include a huge retention pond. I feel so bad for the people that flood on that first street in Woodland Hills. If they do not put in retention ponds those homes will flood again.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA :
I would not be happy if I bought a home in that neighborhood and then all of this construction started a stone's throw from my home. First those tiny homes and now this.

I drove through the Woodbridge neighborhood a few weeks ago and noticed that the homes in the back of the community all have ugly big utility boxes in their front yards. No way would I buy a home on one of those streets with those big boxes making an eyesore for the entire streets. Are there not back yards for those homes? One or two homes tried to disguise them with landscaping but most of them just had out there front and center.

teatime : It must be cheaper for them to place the boxes in the front. I would not buy a home with that in the front yard either. It looks tacky and cheapens the neighborhood.

My auntie and uncle bought a garden home in a 55+ neighborhood and they love it there. The home is at least 2400 sq feet. It is an individual home with a yard. I don't think I would like an apartment or renting.

Txbutterfly : You cannot murder a tree, only kill it. There is a huge distinction.

teatime :
When I was on a cruise I met a couple who lived in a 55 plus community. They were about 55 and said they loved it. I always wondered if I would like it in one of those. My son lives with me so I will not be living in one of those areas.
But I really like the sound of children playing. I am sure people will buy these homes.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : It is not the seller of the property that is the problem. The issue is the buyer.

I hope they aren't clearing out any trees for this! It's going to lead to more flooding.

I'm sure they will have a big retention pond with a fountain in the middle and a walkway around the whole thing.
