Have you looked at proposition A, that is on the ballot. Look the other way on small marijuana cases and not get to kick down any more doors without knocking.

It is pretty interesting, it has already sparked some local conversation with the raid near Bear Branch Elementary back in August.

I've prepared an article to breakdown a recap of the raid and how Proposition A might effect us if anyone is interested: Kingwood Raid Revisited Ahead of Houston Vote on HPD No-Knock Warrants Kingwood homeowner Russ Gundrum said he didn't know his daughter's new husband was inside his Garden Lake Drive home when authorities arrived looking for him back on August 20th near Bear Branch Elementary. Russ Gundrum and his daughter walked outside with their hands raised, but his wife couldn't leave on her own. She reportedly stayed inside and was later taken to a hospital. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said its SWAT team was helping the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force serve a felony warrant. Authorities said the 38-year-old man refused to come out. He was eventually arrested. An arrest is not a conviction. At nearby Bear Branch Elementary, Humble ISD restricted campus access under its "Secure the Perimeter" protocol. Classes continued, and the restriction was later lifted. Houston's November 3rd ballot includes Proposition A, a proposed charter amendment covering HPD warrant service and marijuana enforcement. Houston officers would be barred from requesting, executing or helping execute search warrants unless the warrants require them to knock, announce themselves and wait at least 15 seconds. Class A and Class B misdemeanor marijuana possession would become HPD's lowest enforcement priority, with related reporting requirements. The August raid was a task force operation with HCSO SWAT assistance. Proposition A's restrictions would apply to Houston police officers. The August 20th raid on Garden Lake Drive brought renewed local attention to no-knock warrants after authorities arrested Travis Bingham in a sex-offender registration case. The Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force carried out the operation with HCSO SWAT assistance, rather than HPD, whose officers would be covered by Proposition A.

On small marijuana cases, I'd be shocked if that warranted a no knock warrant. As for sex offenders, kick away!
