From Memorial Herman: "After thoughtful review, Memorial Hermann has made the decision to wind down and close the Memorial Hermann Medicare Advantage Plan (MA Plan), which will no longer be offered in 2027. Current MA Plan coverage remains in effect through December 31, 2026. Members can continue using their benefits and receiving covered care through that date.
We will work closely with brokers, delegated vendors and providers to ensure a smooth transition of coverage.
Why We've Made this Decision
This decision reflects our responsibility to ensure every part of our work advances our core mission.
While we are deeply proud of the impact we've made through the MA Plan, the health care landscape has evolved significantly, and health system-owned plans are facing increased pressures - from intensifying competition, regulatory uncertainty, increased compliance burdens and more.
In this setting, it is important that we are disciplined in managing the financial impact of our environment while prioritizing high-value care.
By narrowing our focus on our System's core strengths, including care delivery, access and clinical excellence, we can advance our mission while positioning the System for sustainable growth."

muffy : Not my plan and not great timing. We'll start searching tomorrow. I'll drop anything helpful we find. Mind you, we will be searching for plans to fit her needs. So, whatever we find may or may not be helpful to you.

Advantage plans definitely have advantages however traditional Medicare has the best coverage. Unfortunately it is no longer available for new enrollment.

Depends. Medicare doesn't cover some of the items required for the member of the households treatments. She has been in and out of the hospital or skilled nursing almost half of the year. I'm not going to go into great detail but, the coverage was excellent and the overall out of pocket was minute. We moved closer to the medical center and the care here has been amazing as compared to anything received with HCA. It will be taken care of. Thank you for your post.

Yes, my MIL was on this. She had a supplemental plan for years which was great with her numerous conditions. We changed just this year because the total out of pocket was less than what she was paying monthly. So now she can't go back to the supplement and the out of pocket on the other plans is more than she would have been paying. We also can't find a plan that all her doctors are in. It is very frustrating.

Part of what is being done by insurance companies is reducing networks. It will be more difficult to keep our care teams together. Good luck.
