My oldest son was on the Bend City Council for 5 years before moving his company to Big Fork, MT 3 years ago. He is much distraught for his friends in Bend.

sebastian2 : Not necessarily true. Its not a gun problem. Its a mental health issue. People murdering children…… misfits, mentally ill, and probably sent many signals and red flags which were ignored.

billcherie2 : I love the town of Bend and hate this for them. I know they will rally behind and support the families of the victims. My daughter-in-law and grandson live just outside the beautiful Hamlet of Newtown,Ct. Even though it is ridiculously expensive she sends her little one to private school because as a single mother she is triggered by the idea of him going to the local school. When I visit this beautiful little town it is so hard to believe the horror that happened there. I watched as the school was torn down but the heartbreaking memory can't be erased.

MissAmericanPie : This is sad! I am so glad the suspected shooter was fatally shot by a community member who saw the teen going into the Elementary School. That person is a hero! I am sure there would have been many more dead children and teachers if it were not for this person. Prayers for the families of this community.

How does a 16yr old gain access to such weapons?

Terrible! What would motivate a 16 yo to do this? Thank God, an armed bystander intervened before more were killed.
