This monster hi power Phase Linear 400 has been completely refurbished, fully tested and adjusted to manufacturer’s specifications. The unit bias was adjusted to .35 VDC and offset was verified at less than 50 mV. Power output was measured and is 214 Watts per channel into 8 ohms which is above the rated 201 watts.
Capacitors were replaced with Wima films and Nichicon’s, and the meters were also relamped. The 2x main power capacitors were uprated to 10,000 uF at 100 VDC. A 30 amp speaker protection relay was added. Dual fans were also added to keep the final transistors and heat sinks cooler allowing the amp to run at full rated power in a commercial setting such as a bar or for a band.
There are some blemishes and scratches on the faceplate which are depicted in the pictures. I have spent way too many hours and dollars rebuilding the unit and the asking price will not even recover my costs, but you will be rewarded with the great sound this Bob Carver amplifier provides.
