lol @Wooderson yeah I do find myself saying things in a Honey Boo Boo voice sometimes. Then I smack myself.
@Burnsaway, that was a real issue with several lawyers this am. They were saying this was not a reason to remove a child. They didn't like the mom, but they said she wasn't an abusive parent. You are right about that.
And you are dead on with the clothes, I am so glad I have boys! lol

whether you like it or not I don't see it as a valid reason to remove a child from home..

The child is part of a custody dispute. Her mom lost temporary full time custody to her ex husband who wants his daughter out of the pageants. It wasn't a case of the gov't stepping in and removing her.

I do not believe for one minute that a child under the age of 14 needs to be in contests for poise & beauty . Let them grow up & decide for their selves what they want to do . Using thousands of dollars to put a child into costumes to be paraded across a stage & graded on poise & beaty is not something I would consider doing to any child for any reason. Look what Happened to Jon BonaeRamsey , she was killed by a stranger at the ripe old age of 6.....on Christmas ....how horrible ....make-up & costumes are fine for Halloween & parties , but to compete , sorry not my cup of tea for any of my kids...JMO

I think they should have a CPS edition of toddlers and tiaras, where the whole time a CPS agent is around undercover as a another mom and they observe the craziest ones and then take the kid away. My mom used to watch it when nothing else was on but more for shock value of these women are crazy. One time when I was over and she had it on there was a woman who was making her daughter who was like four do the pageant even when she had bronchitis. That is just messed up, the kid should be resting at home.

Toddlers & Tiara's is not an accurate depiction of what pageants really are. It's sad that the show has been aired the way it has for ratings because now most of America thinks that's how all pageants operate. After more than a year of begging us, we finally let DD (5 yrs) do her first NATURAL pageant in March. No make up, nothing fake, all age appropriate. Just what she was born with, a pretty hair do (no fake hair), & a gorgeous $30 dress. All she will ever do is natural. It's been made very clear that bratty behavior = no more pageants. This was her choice, not mine. I'm the total opposite of a "pageant mom" but it's something that she's passionate about, so I support her. No thousands or even hundreds spent. It's a hobby that she enjoys, not a way of life & that's how it is for MOST pageant girls. The parents are kind & supportive, if someone forgets something & I have it or extra, I will always lend a helping hand. DD makes great friends, & pageants often offer scholarships. I promise, they aren't all the train wreck they're made out to be. I don't understand why the people on T & T do some of the things they do, but all I can figure is ratings & seeking "fame". I think the Dolly Parton outfit was embarrassing for that little girl & totally inappropriate, but if she's provided & care for, I don't see it as a reason to be removed from a home. Counseling FOR SURE, but not removal. Really wish they'd show the classier side of pageants. (I promise, such a thing exists, lol.) and honey boo boo just makes me weep for future generations.

You are right @Heathur, there are some great pageants out there. You know they are legit when they do not allow all the fake stuff for little girls.
And the scholarship money is a life saver for a lot of a lot of young ladies.
I think that @rmille34 hit the nail on the head. The reality TV shows are crap. How much longer before they all just go away?

Never so long as the larger percentage of the human race seems to thrive off the drama and misfortune and ignorance of others... :-/
the original mind numbing tv shows were Jerry Springer and Cops... but cops is real, jerry springer is stupid and full of attention wh*res and the like...
Now we're just chock full of crap...  i mean... come on... how many crap shows can you make about repo?
And there will never be another show like Crocodile Hunter so stop making "swamp man" and stupid stuff like that... Lizard Lick towing...
I could go on and on... even the educational channels are falling victim to these shows... Nat Geo... I died a little inside...
