In my early days on the streets, I kept quarters in the ash tray of my car in case I needed to pull over and use a pay phone. I actually carried a copy of the yellow pages and phone book with me. Damn, that makes me feel old.
I remember when pay phones were a nickle, than a dime.
I never used one after they hit a quarter because that was just outrageous.
@FoFa:
I am being careful not to tell how much I remember, that can really date myself. BUT, I do remember being able to fill up my 1975 Chevy Vega for $7.00.
I had a 72 vega, traded my 69 Toronado for it when I got laid off because I afford the 56 cent premium gas for it. That and the 454 only got about 8 MPG.
Mine was burnt orange with black strips and a spoiler.
I remember my 8 track case. That thing was huge and it went everywhere with me.
@kingwooddiscgolf:
My Vega only came with an AM/FM, so I installed an 8 track in it - I thought I was hot stuff cruising down main street playing ZZ Top and BTO 8 tracks.
